Korpus Kristy & the Skinwalkers
Korpus Kristy & the Skinwalkers began in the spring of 1998 when songwriter Kristy Cepielik gained interest from a major record label in Los Angeles. She gave bass player Glenn Bassett a rough demo she made in her Pasadena apartment with a four track recording system. From that moment on she and Bassett played as often as possible, performing live and in the studio.
The first priority on the list was to record a great four-song demo to deliver to the label. The first goal was achieved and then snowballed into the quest for putting together a quality band. For the next year the Skinwalkers were a collaboration of a variety of talented musicians. The band played in clubs and festivals throughout Los Angeles, Long Beach, Malibu, the San Gabriel Valley and Las Vegas. In addition, Cepielik spent time in the studio making her four-song demo into a full-length CD. She ended up with three CD's worth of original material tracked in the studio and a fresh sounding, 15-song finished product. She named the CD and it's title track after a short story she wrote called The Hookah Tale.
The band¹s lineup consists of Glenn Bassett on Bass, Dread Zeppelin's Gary Putman on lead guitar, John Anthony Chappell on drums and Cepielik taking care of vocals, guitar and a little bit of piano and harmonica.
The Hookah Tale is available at http://www.cdbaby.com, http://mp3.com/korpuskristy and at live performances. The CD includes talented musicians: Dave Beyer, Melissa Etheridge¹s drummer; world-famous sitarist Rahul Sakyaputra; Ardy Sarraf of The Beatles tribute band The Fab Four ; cellist Matt Cooker who has graced the stage of the Hollywood Bowl, played with Barbara Streisand, performed music for major films such as Jurassic Park and too many awards shows to list; and amazing local Southern California talents such as Pat O'Brien who played lead guitar, harmonica, banjo, mandolin, baritone guitar, recorder and harpsichord (to name a few); the list goes on, as there are over 15 wonderful musicians on The Hookah Tale.
The band is excited about the forthcoming year and can't wait to see you at their next show!
